Caribbean communities around the world Information relating to communities of people from the Caribbean outside their native countries. People from the Caribbean Lost in the Attack on America On the 11th Day of September, 2001, the World Trade Center in New York and part of the Pentagon building in Washington were destroyed in a terrorist attack. Among the thousands who perished that day were people from the Caribbean. Click on the following for a listing of Guyanese, Barbadians, Jamaicans, Trinidadians, Grenadians who perished that day.
Help for People from the Caribbean in the New York Area The Caribbean Women's Association, Inc., was formed in 1982 to respond to the problems which affect immigrants, including lack of access to care, dealing with the bureaucracy, victimization and exploitation. The organization works at helping with the procurement of basic needs such as securing food, shelter and care. It also conducts relevant education and advocacy programs. CWHA operates four service centers which provide services to thousands of deserving people. |
